About EVS Diagnostics
EVS Diagnostics was founded to give Vancouver Island EV owners access to independent, objective diagnostic information — the kind that helps you make confident decisions about your vehicle.
Mobile diagnostics — on-site, anywhere on Vancouver Island
Evan Caton founded EVS Diagnostics to help Vancouver Island EV owners make informed decisions about their vehicles through independent diagnostics, battery health assessments, and technical consultation.
Evan holds a degree in Biochemistry — a multidisciplinary field combining chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, and data analysis to understand complex systems. That scientific training built a strong foundation in measurement, critical thinking, and the interpretation of technical data. Those same skills are applied at EVS Diagnostics when evaluating battery health, vehicle performance, and diagnostic information.
Since 2019, Evan has operated his own successful business in the construction industry, with extensive experience managing projects, troubleshooting technical challenges, and delivering practical solutions for clients. He also serves as Chief Technology Officer for an electric equipment company, where he works with electric drive systems, batteries, motor controllers, charging systems, and emerging electrification technologies.
After purchasing a battery electric truck in 2023, Evan developed a strong interest in BEV technology and the realities of EV ownership — from charging infrastructure and battery performance to long-term ownership considerations. EVS Diagnostics was created to provide the kind of independent, objective information that helps owners and buyers move forward with confidence.
My scientific background taught me that good decisions start with good data. At EVS Diagnostics, every assessment is built on objective measurements, careful analysis, and clear reporting.— Evan Caton, Founder, EVS Diagnostics
How We Work
We are not affiliated with any manufacturer, dealer, or repair shop. Our assessments are objective by design — we have no financial interest in the outcome of a diagnostic. We come to you, perform the assessment on-site, and deliver a plain-language written report the same day.
We are happy to work alongside dealerships and service providers — our role is to provide independent data that helps everyone involved make better decisions. Whether you're a buyer, an owner, or a dealer helping a customer feel confident about a purchase, we're here to help.
Tell us your vehicle, location, and what you're trying to understand. We'll confirm a time that works.
Our technician arrives with professional-grade diagnostic equipment. No towing, no shop visit required.
Depending on the service, this typically takes 60–90 minutes. We work methodically and explain what we're doing.
A clear, plain-language report with all findings, data, and recommended next steps — delivered the same day.
Book a service or reach out with questions. We serve Courtenay, Comox, Nanaimo, Campbell River, Parksville, and surrounding communities.
